SGR successfully passed RS (Russian Maritime Register of Shipping ) certification

Date: 2026-06-03

Recently, the RS (Russian Maritime Register of Shipping ) certification results submitted by SGR have been released. The N series planetary gear reducer developed and produced by SGR has lived up to expectations and successfully obtained the RS certification.

From preparing certification materials at the end of October last year, to submitting the RS certification application, to fully cooperating with the Russian RS inspection specialists to carry out various inspections and trial runs, and then to providing detailed product documents, reports and drawings for evaluation, it took more than 6 months for SGR  to obtain RS (Russian Maritime Register of Shipping) certification and get the "ticket" to enter the Eurasian shipping market.

RS Certification, a highly authoritative international certification

RS (Russian Maritime Register of Shipping ) was founded in 1913 and is a member of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS). The IACS association provides certification for more than 90% of the world's ships, and the RS certification of being a member of it is very valuable. RS's mission is to promote safe ships, offshore installations and fixed offshore platforms to ensure the safety of life at sea, the safety of cargo and prevent pollution. RS certification covers 67 flag state maritime administrations and is a "hard pass" for products to legally enter the shipping market of Russia and the CIS countries.

Russia is one of the key overseas markets that SGR has been developing in recent years. The successful completion of RS certification lays the foundation for SGR to enter the Russian and surrounding markets, and can also quickly solve problems such as the entry of SGR products into the Russian inland waterway shipping sector and overcome market access bottlenecks.

Working together with one heart and one mind, professionalism earns RS recognition

To ensure the successful completion of this certification, SGR attached great importance to it and built a speed reducer test bench in the factory. During the inspection process, inspectors from the RS organization's Shanghai office strictly followed the relevant standards of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) and Russian national standards (GOST series), personally inspecting and testing the speed reducer on-site, and focusing on observing the speed reducer's torque, speed, power, and other performance indicators.

The professional technical team and overseas business team of SGR worked together, providing full support and professional answers throughout the process. With more than 100 pages of complete technical documents, professional and rigorous on-site operations, and fully traceable test data, they systematically demonstrated SGR's core technical strength, effective quality management system, and professional service quality, winning high recognition from RS inspectors.

Quality first, successfully passed RS certification

The planetary gear reducer tested this time belongs to SGR's N-series planetary gear reducers, specifically developed and customized for Russian tourist boats. Its appearance, manufacturing process, transmission efficiency, and operational reliability all comply with the relevant specifications of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.

The gears of the N series planetary gear reducers are made of 20CrMnTi carburized, quenched, and ground steel, offering advantages such as multi-tooth load distribution, smooth and reliable operation, and high mechanical efficiency. Positioned as a "replacement for imported reducers" (they can replace similar products from foreign brands such as Brevni, Dynamic, Rossi, and Bonfilioli), their design philosophy and production technology are on par with international standards. Due to localized services, the N series planetary gear reducers have gained recognition from users in industrial sectors such as construction machinery, marine auxiliary machinery, mining machinery, and textile printing and dyeing machinery due to its excellent cost-performance ratio.

After passing the on-site inspection, the RS inspector from Russia gave high praise to SGR's N-series planetary gear reducers: "The product quality is good, the performance is stable, and it is trustworthy!"

The successful RS certification of the N-series planetary gearbox signifies that SGR’s products fully comply with the shipping market access standards of Russia and the CIS countries. This fully demonstrates SGR's technical strength in the research and development and manufacturing of gearboxes, and further enhances the competitiveness of SGR products in the international shipping industry.

Looking ahead, SGR will continue to uphold its original aspiration of "being a practitioner of technological innovation in the field of mechanical transmission," deeply cultivate core technologies in power transmission, strictly adhere to international classification society standards, and continuously improve product performance and service quality. Leveraging the policy benefits of the Eurasian Economic Union and opportunities for localized cooperation, we will accelerate our expansion into the Russian and surrounding markets, providing global customers with more reliable, efficient, and competitive gearbox solutions.(Author, SGR, Angie Zhang)
